Iconic Restaurant Leaves the Las Vegas Strip (But It's Not Gone)

The Las Vegas Strip, known for its iconic hotel casinos, is also home to restaurants operated by many celebrity chefs, including Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, Martha Stewart, Guy Fieri and Wolfgang Puck.

Ramsay has several steakhouses inside Caesars properties along the 4.2-mile stretch of road and recently updated the former Oyster Bar space at Harrah's. Flay operates high-end Italian restaurant Amalfi at Caesars Palace and will soon open French restaurant Brasserie B by Bobby Flay at Caesars.

Guy Fieri Opens Chicken Guy!

Celebrity chef and television star Guy Fieri is set to operate Flavortown Sports Kitchen at Caesars' Horseshoe beginning in the summer. Fieri also just opened his Chicken Guy! fast-food restaurant in the Forum Food Hall at Caesars Palace, which features chicken tenders brined in fresh lemon juice, pickle brine and buttermilk. Tenders are grilled or fried and served in sandwiches or salad bowls.

The Chicken Guy! menu also includes Loaded Mac Daddy Mac 'N' Cheese with chicken, bacon and green onions; Sauce Boss loaded chicken sandwiches and a variety of shakes, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Several restaurant updates have occurred in recent months at Mandalay Bay. Chef Charlie Palmer closed his Aureole restaurant, which operated at Mandalay for over 20 years, to make way for "Top Chef" stars Michael and Bryan Voltaggio's new eatery Retro by Voltaggio. Retro celebrates nostalgia from the 1980's and 90's and features menu items like Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, pot roast and lobster Thermidor.

Wolfgang Puck Reinvents Restaurant on The Strip

As part of Mandalay Bay's renovations to prepare for the arrival of Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium, the Caesars Entertainment  (CZR) - Get Free Report hotel casino's Italian restaurant Lupo, operated by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, will close for business in August for remodeling to a new Italian concept with a new name, but still run by Puck, according to the Review-Journal.

Mandalay Bay approached Puck's team to say that they wanted them to remain at the hotel casino, but asked if they could create a new restaurant different from Lupo. Puck reportedly wants to create "something new and exciting and different that's tied to Wolfgang personally."

Neither Mandalay Bay, nor Puck have revealed the name of the new restaurant. Lupo, which Puck has operated at Mandalay Bay since May 1999, will depart the hotel casino but reappear in place of Wolfgang Puck Players Locker, a sports-themed restaurant in downtown Summerlin, Nev. Renovations to convert Players Locker to a luxury neighborhood restaurant are expected to begin in late summer or early fall and open by the end of the year.

Puck and his team are still working on the design and menu for the Summerlin restaurant, which will be created as a combination of Lupo and Puck's iconic Spago that has been on the Strip since 1992 at the Forum Shops at Caesars, before moving to Bellagio. The new restaurant will feature Mediterranean cuisine with American and Asian elements.
