ILT20 2024: MI Emirates name former India all-rounder Robin Singh head coach; Ajay Jadeja joins as batting coach

Abu Dhabi: MI Emirates announce the appointment of their coaching staff for ILT20 2024. Robin Singh will take over as the Head Coach and will be joined by Ajay Jadeja as the Batting Coach and Mitchell McClenaghan as the Bowling Coach.

Robin has been with the One Family since 2010, playing a key role in Mumbai Indians’ 5 IPL victories and 2 Champions League campaigns. He served as General Manager of MI Emirates in the inaugural season of the ILT20 in 2023.

Jadeja, the former Indian captain, will be the batting coach, bringing his vast experience as player, coach and mentor.

McClenaghan made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in 2015, winning 4 titles with the One Family, and returns as bowling coach, transitioning from player to coach.

Vinay Kumar (Assistant Coach) and James Franklin (Fielding Coach), continue from the previous season.

MI Emirates squad start their campaign with an away game in Dubai on 20th January.

The team had recently announced explosive West Indian wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran as their new captain ahead of the second season. Pooran takes over the reins of the team from senior West Indian Kieron Pollard, under whose leadership the MI Emirates finished third last year.

MIE had beaten Dubai Capitals by eight wickets in the Eliminator, but would get knocked out by the Gulf Giants in Qualifier 2 after suffering a four-wicket defeat.

Pooran had previously led MI New York to the title in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States, while Pollard had been named captain of MI Cape Town ahead of the second season of SA20.
