Imtiaz Ali Explains Tamasha’s Most Romantic Climax Scene Between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: ‘There Is Love Beyond…’

Imtiaz Ali’s movie Tamasha may not have been a hit when it first came out, but now it’s considered a special film. People really love the unusual story and the chemistry between the lead actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Tamasha is a masterpiece carved by Imtiaz on a very unique plot that did not do that well at the ticket windows. Even the audiences were thrilled to have ex-lovebirds Ranbir and Deepika on board for a love story. However, as the film unfolded, it turned out to be much more than a mere love story. It was a life story. It was an inspirational story. But probably it took several years for people to understand and appreciate that.

In a special interview with News18 Showsha, Imtiaz, who’s enjoying the success of his latest movie Amar Singh Chamkila, talked about one of the most emotional scenes in Tamasha. It’s the climax moment when Ranbir’s character, Ved, thanks Deepika’s character, Tara, by kissing her.

Imtiaz shared that shooting this scene was quite tricky. They were in a studio, and the setup was complicated. But the magic happened when Ranbir and Deepika, standing very close to each other, looked into each other’s eyes. It was a warm and touching moment for everyone involved in making the movie.

Talking about shooting climax scene, Imtiaz told, “We were shooting this at a studio. It was a stage that we created and lot of work had happened but this frame where he would enter from a certain place and he would enter from another place and they would be looking at each other from a very close distance. It’s a very difficult shot for actors to play because you are seeing them so close and one can’t formulate exactly what your reaction will be when you come so close to another person who belongs to the gender you are attracted to. It was a warm experience for all of us to watch.”

Imtiaz Ali addresses love, care, affection and much more through the angst of the relationships between Tara and Ved characters played by Deepika and Ranbir. The filmmaker further added, “People feel that these people (Ranbir and Deepika) had an affair with each other, but beyond that for life of an actor, there is a love for performing with each other, which is very important and significant. You might love to act with each other also and these two actors have that. They have the love for acting with each other. That showed in that frame.”

Tamasha was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
