In 5 years, Congress destroyed roots of Rajasthan, left no stone unturned to loot the state: PM Modi in Chittorgarh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a scathing attack on Congress-led government in Rajasthan and said the grand old party has “destroyed the roots of the state in the past five years”.

Addressing a rally in Chittorgarh in poll-bound Rajasthan, PM Modi said: “The Congress government in Rajasthan has destroyed the roots in the state in the past five years.”

“When news comes from here, I feel a lot of distress. I say this with a sad heart, today when it comes to crime, which state comes on top? Our Rajasthan!” the PM said.

'Pains that Rajasthan tops in crime list'

Asking the people of Chittorgarh, PM Modi said: "Maximum number of cases of crime against women are from Rajasthan. Is this why you voted for Congress?"

He further said the Congress has left no stone unturned in looting the state.

'Congress formed govt in Rajasthan by misleading people'

Intensifying his attack on Congress, PM Modi said the party formed the government in Rajasthan by "misleading" people. "By deception, Congress managed to form a government but couldn't run it," he said.

'BJP aayegi, dange, patthar baazi rukwayegi'

Attacking the incumbent Congress government in Rajasthan for its lax attitude over issues like women’s safety, law and order, and alleged corruption, PM Modi assured that once BJP forms government in the state, its first priority will be to stop criminal activities like rioting.

The Prime Minister also targeted the alleged paper leak mafia in the state, and assured strictest punishment for those involved.

Congress a ‘kursi-bachao sarkar’

The PM also called the Congress a ‘kursi-bachao sarkar’ and asked if any work had been done by the party apart from “saving own chair”.

"Here, Ashok Gehlot was just trying to save the Chief Minister chair, and half of Congress was busy in toppling his chair," PM Modi said.

He further said that Congress indulged in in-fighting while they left public to its own devices. The Prime Minister further said the only thing the party stayed united in was in looting Rajasthan.

'Gehlot sure he is leaving'

PM Modi said the incumbent CM of the state, Ashok Gehlot “himself knows he will leave, and is asking BJP government to not stop his schemes.”

"Gehlot ji himself knows he is leaving CM post, which is why he has already congratulated BJP. You see what he is saying these days: that once BJP forms government, his schemes should not be stopped," PM Modi said.

The PM went on to say that after being voted to power, BJP will continue schemes by Congress in Rajasthan and will investigate those looted poor people.

"We will continue schemes and improve them, but we will definitely investigate those who have indulged in corruption and looted poor people," he said.

Before his address, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth Rs 7,000 crore Chittorgarh on Monday.
