IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 2 Live Score

After 6 overs, England 31/0 (Zak Crawley 6, Ben Duckett 19)

FOUR! Duckett doesn’t spare Siraj either, punching a short, wide delivery from the seamer square of the wicket to collect his third boundary inside two overs. He’s assumed charge in this partnership so far, with Crawley happy to take his time at the other end right now.

Six runs conceded by Siraj in what is the final over of the session as England head to tea having collecting 31 runs without losing a single wicket, thanks to an attacking start from Duckett as well as five penalty runs awarded to the visiting team.

We’ll be back in 20 minutes’ time and might just witness the introduction of Ravichandran Ashwin on the other side of the interval.

After 5 overs, England 25/0 (Zak Crawley 5, Ben Duckett 14)

Crawley sets off for a single at the start of Bumrah’s third over. FOUR! Second boundary for Duckett in as many overs from Bumrah as he cuts a short, wide delivery from the lead Indian pacer behind point. Makes it two boundaries in the same over with a lovely drive through the cover region in the final ball of the over. Bumrah off to an expensive start today, leaking 17 runs in three overs.

After 4 overs, England 16/0 (Zak Crawley 4, Ben Duckett 6)

Tidy over from Siraj as he collects the first maiden of the innings, with Duckett blocking his way through the over. Siraj is also getting plenty of carry on what is a sporting Rajkot wicket.

FOUR! First boundary of the English innings as Duckett decides to punch a short-of-length delivery from Bumrah in front of square. Fine stop by Kuldeep at square leg in the final delivery of the over after Duckett decides to go for an aerial drive in his direction, restricting the southpaw to just a single.

After 2 overs, England 11/0 (Zak Crawley 4, Ben Duckett 1)

Mohammed Siraj appears to have recovered from the physical discomfort in the hamstring area that had him hobbling shortly before the fall of the final Indian wicket. Ben Duckett, who’s on strike for the first time in this over, sets off for a single in the third delivery to get off strike. Crawley collects a brace right after with a drive, this time between extra cover and mid off. LBW appeal by Siraj in the fifth delivery but this one was easily missing leg. Another faint LBW appeal in the next ball, and this time Crawley appears to have got a thick inside edge.

After 1 over, England 8/0 (Zak Crawley 2, Ben Duckett 0)

Bumra starts off with two slips in place along with a gully, and starts off with a no ball, making it six runs on the board for the Englishmen without a ball bowled in the innings. Zak Crawley then collects the first runs off the bat with a brace in the third delivery, pushing the ball through the cover region.

England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett make their way to the centre along with the Indian team, the visitors already having five runs on the board courtesy the penalty slapped on the Indian team for their batters running on the danger area multiple times. Jasprit Bumrah starts off with the new ball in hand. After his handy knock of 26, can he get an early wicket or two for the hosts?

After 130.5 overs, India 445 (Mohammed Siraj 3)

Bit of delay before the start of Wood’s second over of the new spell as Siraj needs a bit of spray on his right knee, where he got hit while attempting a reverse sweep off Hartley that led to the LBW appeal. FOUR! Bumrah heaves a pitched up delivery from Wood towards the vacant midwicket fence to collect his third four. Pushes for a second run in the following delivery and this time Siraj starts hobbling while reaching the non-striker’s end to complete the second run. The physio makes his way out to the centre for the second time in less than an over, and this surely isn’t looking good for the Indian camp and might just put a question mark over Siraj’s participation in the remainder of the Test. England burn a review after an unsuccessful appeal for leg-before against Siraj in the fourth delivery, with Stokes reluctantly going for it. The ball was narrowly missing the leg stump. Another LBW appeal by Wood in the very next delivery, this time against Bumrah, and this time umpire Dharmasena raises his finger. It was an off-cutter from the pacer that deceived ‘Boom’, hitting him on the pad bang in front of middle and leg. Bumrah decides to review it, and gets three reds on HawkEye that signal the end of the Indian innings.

India have been bowled out for 445 after opting to bat, with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj helping take the home team within touching distance of 450 with a stroke-filled final-wicket stand worth 30.

Mark Wood returns to the attack on the other side of the drinks interval as Stokes attempts to end the last-wicket stand with fiery pace. Both Siraj and Bumrah collect a single each. Hartley replaces Rehan from the other end and concedes just a single off it. The left-arm spinner had appealed successfully for LBW in the fourth delivery but Siraj went for the review right away, and got the decision overturned as UltraEdge confirmed a spike.

After 128 overs, India 434/9 (Jasprit Bumrah 17, Mohammed Siraj 2)

SIX! Doesn’t take long for the tail-enders to take the attack to the spinners, with Bumrah going for a wild heave down the ground off Hartley’s bowling, clearing the long on fence as a result. FOUR! Bumrah plays a similar shot off Rehan in the following over, with the fielder running to his left from deep midwicket unable to cut the ball off. FOUR! Make that two boundaries in three balls for the Indian pace spearhead as he goes inside out to a googly, lofting the ball over extra cover. This already is India’s highest score in the ongoing series, going past 420 in the first innings at Hyderabad. Three more runs, and they’ll go past England’s 436, in the second innings of the same Test.

Jurel moves to 40 with a single in the fifth delivery of Hartley’s latest over, with Bumrah blocking the final ball of the over. SIX! Jurel decides to give Rehan the charge in the following over, this time smashing the ball down the ground and clearing long off with a flat hit to collect his second maximum of the day — both scored off the same bowler. BOWLED! Dhruv Jurel misses out on a half-century on Test debut as he ends up cutting the ball straight to the keeper while attempting a late cut. He departs for a patient 46, consuming more than a hundred deliveries during his stay at the crease, leaving India one wicket away from getting bowled out.

SIX! Rehan Ahmed gets smashed for a six by Jurel after starting his new spell with a half-tracker that is promptly pulled over the midwicket fence for a flat hit by Jurel. OUT! Finally, a catch has been taken after being put down twice after lunch. Ashwin dances down the track looking to smash the ball down the ground off Rehan’s bowling, but does so straight to Anderson at midwicket. End of an excellent eighth-wicket stand that helped the home team cross the 400-mark.

After 118 overs, India 401/7 (Dhruv Jurel 32, Ravichandran Ashwin 37)

Just one off Hartley’s over, with Ashwin collecting a single in the third delivery that brings up the 400 for the home team. Wood, meanwhile sticks with his lines to Ashwin and Jurel from the other end, bowling over and round the wicket respectively. AND JUREL’S DROPPED AGAIN! Second time this is happening in a space of four overs. Lady luck is being really kind to the debutant today. Jurel tried to glance a a full delivery from Wood towards the fine leg region, but Stokes had placed himself inside the circle in that direction and the ball came straight to him like a rocket! The England captain gets hit on the palm, but doesn’t react quickly enough to complete the catch.

After 116 overs, India 399/7 (Dhruv Jurel 32, Ravichandran Ashwin 35)

DROPPED! Ollie Pope puts down a sitter at midwicket to hand Dhruv Jurel a lifeline on 32 after the debutant pulls a short-of-length delivery from Tom Hartley in front of square! How costly will that prove for the visiting team this innings? FOUR! Ashwin collects an easy boundary off Wood in the following over, glancing at a short-of-length delivery angled down leg. Was perhaps aware of the fact that Stokes has no short leg/short fine in place, and went for the shot as a result. Similar shot by Ashwin in the final delivery of the over, played a little squarer of the wicket albeit for a single.

FOUR! Wood starts off with four consecutive dots after lunch, focusing on short/short-of-length deliveries down leg. Fires a length ball in the fifth delivery, and Ashwin, perhaps anticipating the sucker ball, gets in position right away and clips this down the ground through the vacant mid on region for a boundary.

Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin make their way back to the centre, with Mark Wood set to continue after lunch. England will be aiming to break this partnership as quickly as possibly, and prevent the hosts from going past 450 from here. We might witness some more of the short-ball tactics from Wood.

After 113 overs, India 388/7 (Dhruv Jurel 31, Ravichandran Ashwin 25)

LUNCH ON DAY 2 — Tom Hartley bowls out the final over of the morning session, in which he concedes a boundary to Jurel with the debutant moving into the 30s with a firm cut through point in the fourth delivery. India collect 62 runs for the loss of two wickets after resuming from 326/5. England started off on an ideal note with Anderson and Root dismissing Kuldeep and Jadeja respectively in successive overs, but the attritional partnership between Ashwin and Jurel has once again shifted the momentum in favour of the home team, who are within touching distance of the 400-mark and still have three wickets in hand.

After 112 overs, India 384/7 (Dhruv Jurel 27, Ravichandran Ashwin 25)

Jurel brings up fifty of the partnership with Ashwin for the eighth wicket after steering the ball down the ground and collecting an easy single on offer. The pair certainly have taken their time, having consumed 118 deliveries in what has been a patient stand so far. Ashwin keeps the strike with a single off the last delivery. Wood persists with the short ball tactic to Ashwin from the other end, and switches to round the wicket after Ashwin gets off strike with a bye. Jurel steers a full delivery angled down leg towards fine leg, where Rehan puts in a slide to prevent a boundary.

After 110 overs, India 380/7 (Dhruv Jurel 25, Ravichandran Ashwin 24)

Ashwin and Jurel collect a single each in Hartley’s 30th over, with the left-arm spinner having done an admirable job at keeping things tidy from his end so far today. Jurel moves into the 20s in the following over, collecting a brace in the second delivery after guiding the ball towards third man with a late cut before coming back for a third in the penultimate delivery after guiding the ball down the ground, with Anderson taking a while to get to the ball from the midwicket region.

After 108 overs, India 373/7 (Dhruv Jurel 19, Ravichandran Ashwin 23)

Jurel collects a single in the penultimate delivery of the over after guiding the ball through midwicket. The left-arm spinner bowls a sharp delivery to Ashwin next up that narrowly beats Ashwin’s outside edge. Wood, meanwhile, has a proper field in place for a barrage of short deliveries, with Stokes getting a third man and a fine leg in place besides a deep backward square leg and a deep midwicket. Multiple fielders at the midwicket area as well should Ashwin offer someone a catch at that zone the way Rohit did yesterday. FOUR! Jurel nearly falls victim to the plan as he glances at a short-of-length ball that sends the ball flying just wide of Stokes at leg gully. Enough pace on the delivery for the ball to run all the way to the fence.

Tidy over from Hartley after the drinks interval, conceding just one with Ashwin setting off for a single with a drive in front of square. FOUR! Ashwin collects his third boundary after driving Rehan through the cover region! Ash, however, is found guilty of running into the danger zone of the pitch, and umpire Joel Wilson, who had given Ravindra Jadeja multiple warnings on the opening day, decides he’s had enough at this point and awards five penalty runs to the Englishmen as a result. First time this is happening since the second Test in India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022. Last time this happened on Indian soil was in the Indore Test against New Zealand in 2016. Ashwin, meanwhile, collects a single off the final delivery to keep the strike.

The left-arm spinner bowls out a maiden, his first of the day and fourth so far in the innings. Spin from both ends for the first time today as leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed replaces Anderson. Two right-handed batters at the crease right now, so Stokes decides to have a bowler turning the ball away from the batter from both ends. Just one off the over, with Ashwin setting off for a single in the penultimate delivery. Drinks brought to the field at the end of the 100th over.

Bit of confusion between Jadeja and Kuldeep in the first delivery as the former attempts to set off for a single, only to be sent back by the non-striker and somehow making it home in time. Jadeja sets off for a single two balls later, completing 1,000 Test runs against England in the process. Faint appeal for caught-behind against Ravindra Jadeja, who’s on strike for the first time in this over, in the second delivery. Jadeja was attempting to guide the ball that’s angled down leg towards the fine leg region, only for the ball to presumably brush his thigh pad. Welcome to our live blog on India vs England third Test at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. The Day 1 saw India score 326/5 with Rohit Sharma scoring 131 and Ravindra Jadeja dding 110 not out. The all-rounder will look to add more runs to his tally on Friday to take India to a strong first innings total. Full action and scorecard will be available on our time line.

IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 2 Live Score and Updates: All eyes will be on Ravindra Jadeja who is on unbeaten 110 as India look to earn a solid first innings totals. After Mark Wood and Tom Hartley struck early for England who lost the toss, it was Rohit Sharma and Jadeja who rescued the home team with a mammoth 204-run stand. Rohit was eventually dismissed on 131 as he became the oldest Indian to score a Test hundred. The departure of the Indian captain gave Sarfaraz Khan his deserved time in the spotlight as he made an impressive 62 off just 66 deliveries on debut. Despite playing his first India game, Sarfaraz showed no nerves and was confident in his sweep shots and hits down the ground. He got out as a result of mix up with his batting partner Jadeja, who completed his century on the next balls after Sarfaraz’s dismissal.

Nonetheless Jadeja soon completed his hundred and steered India to 326/5 on Day 1 and in a much comfortable position than how the day began. Now the all-rounder will have eyes on more runs to take the hosts to a solid first innings total.
