India vs New Zealand 2024: THIS star batter doubtful for opening Test in Bengaluru, delays departure, Mark Chapman called in as backup

New Zealand will commence their three-match Test series against India from October Sixteen with the first Test set to take place on the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) board announced their squad for the Test series but there used to be some bad news for the visitors as former captain and celebrity batter Kane Williamson has made up our minds to delay his departure to India.

Williamson will delay his departure for the upcoming three-Test series against India caused by a groin strain. The Gujarat Titans batter experienced groin discomfort at some point of the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will require a period of rehabilitation sooner than joining the NZ Test squad in India.

NZ selector Sam Wells said the plan used to be still for Williamson to play some part in the three-Test series which starts in Bengaluru next week. “The advice we’ve received is that the explicit course of action is for Kane to rest and rehabilitate now in place of risk aggravating the injury,” said Wells said in a statement on Wednesday.

“We’re hopeful that if the rehabilitation goes to plan Kane will likely be on hand for the latter a part of the tour. While it’s obviously disappointing to not have Kane on hand from the start of the tour, it provides a possibility for somebody else to play a role in an extraordinarily important series,” he added.
