Antigua: The Indian team at the T20 World Cup 2024 is on a roll. They are yet to lose a game after five matches (four yielded results, one was abandoned). One of the major reasons for the purple patch that the team is enjoying is premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The fast bowler has been in top form picking up eight wickets in 15 overs. He has turned games on its head, for example, the wicket of a well-set Mohammed Rizwan proved to be the turning point of the Group stage game in New York. He has also picked up a couple of player of the match awards.
If Bumrah is one of the best pacers in the world, Virat Kohli has to be among the best batters of the generation. Kohli has not been in top-form in the marquee event but there is no denying his class. Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has gone on to hail Bumrah in the most special manner. Malik reckons Bumrah is the Kohli of bowling in the cricket world.
“Jasprit Bumrah is Virat Kohli of bowling in the cricket world,” Malik said on Ten Sports.
Whether India go on to end their ICC title drought on June 29 or not will definitely depend on how Bumrah fares in the next two Super 8 match against Bangladesh and Australia. And then the semi-final as well.
Bumrah would certainly be the key if India has to break their title drought.
Meanwhile, the side takes on Bangladesh in their second Super 8 game tomorrow in Antigua.
