Kangana Ranaut makes U-turn, withdraws remark calling for bringing back farm laws, expresses regret

Shimla: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday withdrew her remarks calling for bringing back the three farm laws that were repealed in 2021, and said those were her personal opinions and did now not represent the birthday party’s stand.

The actor-little one-kisser said she should be aware that she is now not handiest an artiste but also a BJP member now and her statements ought to be in line with her birthday party’s policies.

She said she would maybe have disappointed many with her statements on the contentious laws which she regretted.

The Himachal Pradesh BJP has also distanced itself from the Mandi MP’s statement.

In a post on X, Ranaut wrote, “My views on Farmers Laws are personal and so they don’t represent the birthday party’s stand on those Bills.”

She also posted a video statement on X wherein she said, “When farmers’ laws were proposed, a few of us had supported them. But with great sensitivity and sympathy, our respected prime minister had withdrawn those laws.”

“I should be aware that now I am now not handiest an artiste but also a member of the BJP and my opinion should now not be personal but the stand of the birthday party,” she said.

“I feel sorry about if I left anybody disappointed with my words and opinions. I take my words back,” she said inside of the sixty eight-2d clip.

Speaking at an event in Mandi district on Tuesday, she said the three farm laws faced protests handiest in some states.

“Farmers are a pillar of strength in India’s progress. Best in some states, they had objected to farm laws. I appeal with folded hands that farm laws ought to be brought back inside of the interest of farmers,” she had said.

She said america is on the trail of progress and restoring the farm laws could make certain better financial stability and growth for farmers, sooner or later benefiting the agricultural sector.

The Congress alleged that the remarks are an illustration that the ruling birthday party was making efforts to bring back the three laws and asserted that Haryana will give a befitting reply to it.

Ranaut’s remark came at a time when political parties are preparing for the assembly polls in Haryana slated on October 5. Haryana had witnessed major protest by farmers, specifically at Delhi borders, demanding that the three laws be repealed.

The laws were sooner or later withdrawn by the Modi government in 2021.

Last month also, the BJP needed to distance itself from Ranaut’s disparaging remarks in regards to the farmers’ protest when she had said that bodies were found hanging and rapes were committed at some stage within the agitation against the farm laws.

The BJP had denounced her remarks and made it clear she is neither permitted nor authorised to comment on the birthday party’s policy matters.

“The Bharatiya Janata Birthday celebration has directed Kangana Ranaut to now not make any statement of this manner in future,” the ruling birthday party had said in a statement.
