Kannada Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Accused of Bribing Associates Rs 20 Lakhs to Take Blame for Renukaswamy’s Murder

On June 9 Renukaswamy was brutally beaten to death by top Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. The Karnataka police recently revealed that Darshan had paid Rs 20 lakhs to his associates to cover-up his murder.

Bengaluru: Darshan Thoogudeepa a top actor in the Kannada film industry is currently the main accused behind the Renukaswamy murder case. Karnataka police lead the murder case and they have found that Darshan had extended a hand of support by bribing Rs 5 lakh each to two individuals from the group of four, who were told not to reveal the name of Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case. A die-hard fan of Darshan from the actor’s fan association from Chitradurga is also involved in the murder case.

Darshan Reportedly Paid Rs 5 Lakh Each To 4 Individuals

A group of four individuals agreed not to disclose the Darshan’s identity throughout the police investigation. The other two parties were promised a sum of Rs 5 lakh each following their imprisonment. One of the four individuals, Raghavendra, who is a part of the actor’s following in Chitradurga. Police officials believe that Darshan directed his associates to escort Renukaswamy to Bengaluru.

What is the Renukaswamy Murder Case?

47-year-old Darshan was infuriated with Renukaswamy who used to work as a pharmacist at the Apollo branch. The reason was, that Renukaswamy crossed boundaries, sending derogatory messages and obscene pictures to Darshan’s dear friend, Pavithra Gowda on Instagram. A chilling turn of events unfolded when Renukaswamy was murdered and was later dumped near a storm drain in West Bengaluru’s Sumanahalli around 8.30 am on June 9.

Renukaswamy’s body was recovered from the site when stray dogs were feeding on him. His body suffered multiple injuries on his head, face, ears and other parts of the body.

Raghavendra, including three others, Karthik or ‘Kappe’, Nikhil Naik, and Keshavamurthy, confessed to the police on the same day when the body was recovered. They admitted their involvement in Renukaswamy’s murder, stating that a financial dispute was at the heart of the issue.

Deepak Kumar M, associate of Darshan, handed over a sum of Rs 5 lakh each to four individuals, ensuring their acceptance of the crime. Dealing under the radar regarding the actor, he laid out the cash in front of Naik and Keshavamurthy, assuring both silence. Similarly, words of promise and assurances were offered to the families of Raghavendra and Karthik for payments to settle once both were put behind bars.

The inquiries conducted by the Karnataka police revealed that Raghavendra had the help of four persons in moving Renukaswamy to Bengaluru. However, these individuals had left before arriving at the crime scene which was a warehouse in RR Nagar. On June 9 Renukaswamy, was brutally assaulted with wooden sticks and ropes.

After police questioned the people involved, it became apparent that Darshan and Pavithra were involved in the murder case. Darshan was arrested from a posh hotel in Mysuru whereas Pavithra was detained in Bengaluru. Currently, section 144 has been imposed within a 200-meter radius around Annapoorneshwarinagar police station. This is where the authorities currently hold Darshan Thoogudeepa, among others.
