Aakash Chopra believes Shah Rukh Khan will retain Shreyas Iyer for Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, emphasizing the emotional connection and stating that Iyer is key to maintaining continuity after leading the team to its third title in 2024.
New Delhi: Former India and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Aakash Chopra said Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood star and co-owner of the KKR, will no longer let Shreyas Iyer go from the franchise prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction. No person understands emotions better than Shah Rukh, he said, adding that Shah Rukh will retain the skipper for purely ’emotional reasons.’
Iyer captained Kolkata to victory within the IPL 2024 title in May, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets within the ultimate held in Chennai, securing their 0.33 IPL championship.
