Legal dilemma surrounds 7-year-old boy accused of raping 5-year-old girl

A seven-year-old boy in Kanpur Dehat district is facing accusations of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl from their neighborhood.

This incident occurred in a village under the jurisdiction of the Akbarpur police station on a late Sunday night.

The matter came to light when the girl’s mother filed a complaint on Tuesday, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 5/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to reports, both children involved have been admitted to the district hospital, where a medical examination confirmed the rape. According to the five-year-old girl’s mother, her daughter had gone outside to play when this distressing incident unfolded.

Inspector Satish Singh of the Akbarpur Kotwali police station stated that they are handling this case with great care. He mentioned that when a child under the age of seven commits an offense, it does not typically fall under the category of a criminal act.

Nevertheless, they will proceed with further actions only after seeking legal advice. The FIR was officially registered on Tuesday in response to the mother’s complaint.
