Major setback to OPS camp as Madras High Court allows AIADMK meet
Chennai: In a major setback to O Panneerselvam camp, the Madras High Court on Monday allowed the AIADMK to hold its crucial meet of the General Council where the dominant faction led by Edappady K Palaniswami is likely to elect him possibly as the single leader of the organisation.
The high court rejected the plea by O Panneerselvam to stall the meeting which proposes to revive interim general secretary post and abolish coordinator as well as joint coordinator posts.

Meanwhile, moments before the high court was to pronounce its order, clashes broke out between Edappady K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam faction outside the AIADMK headquarters. TV visuals showed some persons hurling stones at each other and some men damaging vehicles parked nearby. It was not clear immediately if there were injuries. Soon after the high court verdict, AIADMK leader E Palaniswami reached party office in Vanagaram for the General Council meeting.
