One of the biggest music award ceremonies, the MAMA Awards 2023 began on 28 November 2023 at the Tokyo Dome Stadium in Bunkyo, Japan. As the two-day music extravaganza undertakes, some of the biggest draws were seen gracing the red carpet.

As the first day came to a close on Tuesday, 28 November, BTS emerged as the big winners as they took home not one but two prestigious titles including the Worldwide Fans’ Choice and Icon of the Year awards. While the popular K-pop band BTS and their dynamic singer Jim led the nomination, they were on the same lines as the rising stars TXT (Tomorrow X Together), with an impressive eight nominations each.

MAMA Award 2023: BTS wins double

Hosted by the talented singer Jeon Somi on Day 1, the second day will see the hosting duties being passed on to the charismatic Park Bo-gum.

TXT with their chart-topping blockbuster numbers ‘Sugar Rush Ride’ and ‘Goodbye Now’
bagged two nominations in the ‘Song of the Year’ category, BTS’ Jimin was nominated under the ‘Artist of the Year’ category. He was joined by fellow BTS member Jungkook as both the artists vied for the ‘Song of the Year’ honour with their individual tracks including ‘Crazy’ and ‘Seven’.

That being said, while BTS won the ‘Worldwide Icon of the Year’ and ‘Worldwide Fans’ Choice’ awards, TXT bagged the ‘Worldwide Fans’ Choice’.
