Nana Patekar Makes Fresh Statement on Tanushree Dutta’s ‘Tried to Sexually Abuse’ Remark: ‘Everything Was A…’

Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment with regard to the MeToo movement in 2018. He released a new statement from the time she accused the actor of mistreating her when they were filming a song for the 2008 movie ‘Horn Ok Pleassss.’ Patekar claimed in an interview that he never got agitated since he understood right away that Dutta’s assertions were untrue.

Claiming all the allegations were a lie, he said in an interview with The Lallantop, “I knew that it was all a lie. That’s why I didn’t get angry. When everything was a lie, why should I be angry? And all those things are old. They have happened. What can we talk about them? Everyone knew the truth. What could I say at that time when nothing like this happened? Suddenly, someone says that you did this, you did that. What would I have answered to all these things? Should I have said that I didn’t do this? I know the truth that I didn’t do anything.”

Tanushree Dutta’s Allegations During #MeToo Movement

Tanushree Dutta, who claimed that director Vivek Agnihotri, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, and actor Nana Patekar had improperly behaved with her during a film production, was the catalyst for the MeToo movement in India in 2018. She said in her complaint that Nana had ‘tried to sexually abuse’ her back in 2008 while they were filming a song for the movie. Despite Tanushree’s statement that the song would only feature one actor, Nana would frequently visit the scene on the day of filming.

Tanushree discussed the criticism she faced when bringing forward these claims later, in 2022. She stated in an interview with HT that she was attempting to revive her career and that, despite the negative perception that these Bollywood mafias have created of her, people were eager to collaborate with her. “I am getting offers for films as well as web projects, in fact, signed some also, but have noticed none of them materialize. All of a sudden, the producers or directors go incognito, or sponsors drop,” she revealed.

Bollywood was late to join the worldwide #MeToo movement, which was launched last year in response to allegations of sexual misconduct by men against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. Above all, the majority of film studios still lack appropriate policies to safeguard women in the workplace.
