NO Congratulations From Pakistan To Narendra Modi After Poll Vistory; Here’s Country’s Vague Reply

Narendra Modi’s Third Oath-Taking Ceremony: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has emerged victorious in the recently completed Lok Sabha elections and leaders of the alliance elected Narendra Modi as the leader of the Lok Sabha and leader of NDA Parliamentary Party on Friday. Now, Modi is set to sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for the third time. Ahead of his swearing-in ceremony, several world leaders poured congratulatory messages to Narendra Modi, however, he hasn’t yet received any congratulations from neighbouring country Pakistan. Pakistan on Friday stated that wanted and desired “cooperative ties” with all its neighbouring countries, that also include India. Talking about resolution of ongoing disputes through talks, Pakistan’s foreign office, on being asked why Pakistan has not congratulate the BJP or Narendra Modi for their thumping win the general elections, appeared to be evasive.

Pakistan Foreign Office On BJP’s Electoral Victory

Foreign office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that it was the right of Indian people to decide about their own leadership, adding that Pakistan didn’t have any remarks to make on the neighbouring country’s electoral results.
Baloch added that as the government formation process is underway in India, it was “premature” to talk about congratulating Modi.

Pak On BJP Leaders Ridiculing The Country In Election Speeches

Despite the disparaging remarks from BJP leaders throughout the electoral campaign, Pakistan has persisted in behaving responsibly. Countries like the United States have expressed their congratulations to newly elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to the BJP’s triumph in the Indian general elections. The inauguration of Narendra Modi is scheduled for tomorrow, with attendance from heads of seven adjacent nations.

PM Modi Congratulatory Messages To Pak PMs

News coming out from Pakistan has been noticeably quiet. Noteworthy was that even before taking up the mantle, Imran Khan’s political party, PTI, received a congratulatory message from Prime Minister Modi upon becoming the majority party in 2018. In a similar vein, Shehbaz Sharif received Modi’s well-wishes when stepping into his role as Pakistan’s prime minister this year. However, there has been a marked downturn in relations following India’s decision to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir – a move India staunchly defends as part of its internal affairs.

India-Pak Relations

Relations between India and Pakistan took a downturn after the Pulwama terror attack, triggering an airstrike by New Delhi on terrorist hideouts in Balakot. India keenly looks forward to improved ties with its neighbor, Pakistan, on the condition that necessary measures are taken to curb cross-border terrorism. In the recent elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance triumphed with 293 seats, compared to the 234 seats secured by the opposition coalition.
