Supertech shifts all blame of wrongdoing on Noida Authority, as it washes its hands off the illegality involved in twin towers construction

In a statement, Supertech claims that the building plans of the project were approved by the Noida Authority and was in strict accordance with the prevailing building bylaws as announced by the state government.

They state that no deviation was made from the building plan and that the building itself was constructed after making full payment to the Authority.

The statement says that the Supreme Court had not found the construction satisfactory on technical grounds and had issued orders for demolition.

Edifice Engineering will be conduction the demolition of the Twin Towers, Apex and Ceyane.

Supertech states that they are committed to give delivery to remaining homebuyers as per the scheduled time frame. They also claim that they have completed and given delivery of more than 70000 Units to homebuyers.

Supertech ended the statement by assuring all home buyers that the order of the Supreme Court will not affect any other ongoing project and all other projects will continue and that they are committed to complete construction and will deliver the flats to the allottees as per the schedule time.

The evacuation of residents of the Emerald Court and the ATS Village societies was scheduled to be completed by 7 am but took a little longer, police officials said.

Cooking gas and power supply lines have also been discontinued in the two societies in Sector 93A in view of the implosion planned at 2.30 pm on Sunday, an official overseeing the evacuation exercise told PTI.

The buildings closest to the twin towers are Aster 2 and Aster 3 of the Emerald Court society which are just nine metres away. The demolition would be done in a manner so as not to cause any structural damage to other buildings, they said.

While the nearby Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be closed from 2.15 pm to 2.45 pm, the city will remain a no fly zone for drones. The air space in one nautical mile radius above the blast zone will also remain briefly unavailable for flights during demolition time, according to the Noida Authority.

Around 500 police, traffic personnel deployed in Noida ahead of twin towers demolition

Around 500 police and traffic personnel besides the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed as the area around Supertech's twin towers here was put out of bounds for civilians ahead of Sunday's planned demolition of the structures.

Road diversions were put in place early in the morning, as evacuation of all residents from the two adjoining housing societies of Emerlad Court and ATS Village in Sector 93A was completed around 8 am, police officials said.

DCP Rajesh S, who is also the police's incident commander for overseeing the evacuation exercise, said, "Around 400 civil police personnel were on demolition duty Sunday."

DCP (Traffic) Ganesh Saha said separately 150 to 200 traffic personnel were also deployed across Noida at all crucial junctions to facilitate movement of vehicles in view of restrictions and diversions on several routes.

Supertech’s twin towers, when they come cascading down in just 13 seconds from the blasts, separated by milliseconds, turn loose its foundations, will cause shockwaves comparable to one-third of a typical earthquake that measures one on the Richter scale.

The only element remaining to be connected is the final detonator — a 100m long cable that will connect the chargers in the structures to the detonator button. The flick of this switch will turn the towers into a pile of rubble in a matter of seconds, says Edifice Engineering.

Noida: One nautical mile of air space around twin towers briefly unavailable for flights 

One nautical mile of air space around the twin towers demolition site in Noida will remain briefly unavailable for flights on 28 August, the Noida Authority has said.

A nautical mile is equal to approximately 1.8 kilometres.

The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has given its consent for this, the Noida Authority said as it oversaw preparations for the demolition of the nearly 100-metre-tall twin towers on Sunday.

"In view of the dust generated after the demolition, on the recommendation of the Noida Authority, the Ministry of Aviation has given its consent for the non-availability of one nautical mile of air space for aircraft to fly at the time of demolition," it said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier, the Noida police on Thursday banned the use of drones in city skies from 26 August till 31 August citing security reasons in view of the demolition of Supertech's illegal towers.

What will be the impact of dust on residents?

Supertech's illegal twin towers which are taller than the Qutub Minar will be demolished on Sunday, however, the health impact of the resulting dust on residents will be minimal as experts overseeing the demolition will take steps to control the impact.

According to Dr Mrinal Sircar, Head Pulmonology and Critical Care, Fortis Noida said, "When you demolish a big structure like that there will be dust and there would be some smoke because you are using explosives. So, the direction of the air matters. The direction of the wind should also be taken into consideration. Demolishing like this or rather an explosion happening in the open air is much safer than say underground mines."

The demolition of the Apex (32 storeys) and Ceyane (29 storeys) towers would leave behind approximately 35,000 cubic metres of debris that would take at least three months to be cleared.

Noida twin towers demolition: Hospitals on high alert for health emergency

The demolition of the Supertech twin towers is expected to create air pollution due to dust in Uttar Pradesh's Noida. In such a scenario the hospitals near sector 93A are fully prepared for any medical emergency.

"We at Jaypee Hospital sector 128 Noida are completely ready for tomorrow's demolition. We have dedicated eight emergency department beds and 12 ICU beds for tomorrow. Also, one ACLS ambulance equipped with all the necessary medications and equipment will be on standby for any mishappening," said a statement issued by the Jaypee Hospitals which are nearest to the area where the demolition will take place.

The evacuation of two housing societies near the soon-to-be-demolished twin towers of Supretech was nearing completion, officials said Sunday morning.

The evacuation of around 5,000 residents of Emerald Court and ATS Village societies was scheduled to be completed by 7 am.

Most of the residents have already moved out, many of them last evening itself, police officials overseeing the evacuation exercise said around 7.15 am.

"The evacuation is nearing completion," an official said.

While the residents, their vehicles and pets had to be moved out by 7 am, private security and other staff will also be removed from the two societies by 1 pm, the officials added.

The demolition of the two illegally built towers is scheduled for 2.30 pm.
