'Our beloved sport is back', Cricketers, fans overjoyed as IOC Session approves cricket's inclusion for 2028 LA Olympics
In what comes as a huge development for the sport, cricket was officially included for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the same at the ongoing IOC Session in Mumbai.

The inclusion of lacrosse, baseball-softball, flag football and squash were also approved at the IOC Session.
This will be just the second time that cricket is part of the Olympics. The only other time cricket was part of the Olympic Games was in 1900 in Paris, when Great Britain beat France to win the gold medal.
In the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, cricket will be played in the T20 format. Cricket had also featured in the recently-concluded 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, with India winning gold in both men’s and women’s competitions.
The International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s global governing body, on Monday said that they were “thrilled” on the sport’s inclusion for the Olympics in 2028.
