Pawan Kalyan Wants To Become Andhra Deputy Chief Minister, Seeks Cabinet Post: Report

Hyderabad: After the Lok Sabha elections result in which the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won with a thumping majority, allotting of ministerial seat and posts are going on. In the latest development in the Andhra politics where Telugu Desam Party (TDP) emerged victorious, Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan is reported to seek Deputy Chief Minister post in the state cabinet, India Today reported citing sources.

Notably, MLAs of Janasena party on Tuesday unanimously elected Kalyan as the floor leader in the state Assembly.

This massive move came ahead of the NDA legislators’ meeting to elect the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu as leader in the house.

According to insider information, N Manohar, the Janasena MLA from Tenali, put forward a proposal for Pawan Kalyan to take the mantle of leadership in the Assembly. Interestingly, this notion gained unanimous support from all party members.

Pawan Kalyan triumphed in the Pithapuram Assembly seat, outshining his adversary Vanga Geetha from YSR Congress Party by a whopping 70,000 votes. Janasena boasts of 21 chairs in total among 175 members. In Andhra Pradesh, the NDA celebrated a remarkable victory, seizing the lion’s share of 164 Assembly seats divided among TDP-135, Janasena-21, and BJP-8.

The Assembly gathering in Andhra Pradesh is due to kick-off on June 17, with MLAs swearing-in as the curtain-raiser, quickly followed by the Speaker’s election the following day. If we talk about the seat allotment in the Andhra cabinet, the split among TDP, JSP, and BJP is such that out of 25 total seats, TDP holds the major portion with 20 seats, Jana Sena scored 3 including the Deputy Chief Minister spot, and, lastly, 2 seats are likely to be grabbed by BJP.
