Principal secretary to PM Modi reviews implementation of G20 New Delhi Leader's Declaration

The G20 New Delhi Leader’s Declaration’s execution was discussed at a meeting on Wednesday that was presided over by PK Mishra, the Prime Minister’s principal secretary.

The Vice-Chairman, Niti Aayog, the G20 Sherpa, the G20 Chief Coordinator, and top officials from the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Niti Aayog were present at the meeting.

A series of seven webinars are suggested to be held as part of the ongoing efforts, with the leadership of the appropriate Ministries and participation of all pertinent agencies.

The proposed webinars cover the following topics: (i) Strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth; (ii) Accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); (iii) Green development pact for a sustainable future; (iv) Multilateral institutions for the 21st century; (v) Technological transformation and Digital Public Infrastructure; (vi) Women-led Development; and (vii) Countering terrorism and money laundering.

Additionally, a seminar is being planned to bring together different think-tanks from all around the nation to get opinions from local experts on how to implement the New Delhi Leader’s Declaration effectively.

According to the Principal Secretary, a high-level monitoring mechanism would be established to oversee the Declaration’s implementation on a regular basis.

The Prime Minister suggested the G20 Virtual Summit during his speech at the New Delhi Summit, and the Principal Secretary also covered that topic. The Principal Secretary stressed the importance of quick information dissemination to all member-states and guest countries because this is the first time any country will host such a virtual Summit following the main Summit.

The Principal Secretary was updated by Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra about the preparations for the second Voice of Global South Summit, which is also slated to take place in November 2023.

The meeting emphasised the government’s dedication towards strengthening international collaboration in development and welfare as well as its commitment to ensuring the Leader’s Declaration is successfully implemented.
