Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Here’s all you need to know about India’s prestigious domestic tournament
The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, featuring 32 teams and six Plate round participants, begins on October 11, with matches broadcast on Sports18 and live-streamed on Jio Cinema.
New Delhi: India’s premier domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy, is made up our minds to make its return for the 2024-25 season. The competition is scheduled to initiate on Friday, October eleven, 2024, and will continue until March of the following year.
The competition will exhibit 32 teams competing for the ultimate prize in Indian domestic cricket. For the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, these teams have been categorized into four groups: Elite Group A, Elite Group B, Elite Group C, and Elite Group D.
The 32 teams, representing different regions across India, are- Baroda, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Mumbai, Odisha, Products and services, Tripura, Andhra, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Railways, Saurashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Within the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, each team within the group stages will compete in seven matches. Following the group rounds, four quarter-finals will take place at a type of venues starting on February 8, 2025. The semi-finals are set to initiate on February 17, with the final scheduled for Wednesday, February 26.
Mumbai are the defending champions of the Ranji Trophy, having triumphed over Vidarbha within the final of the 2023-24 season.
Additionally, six teams will compete within the Plate round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. These six teams are- Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Goa, Manipur, Sikkim, and Mizoram.
The Plate round may also initiate on Friday, October eleven, with its final scheduled for January 23, 2025. The pinnacle two teams from this round will advance to the Elite groups for the following Ranji Trophy season, while the bottom two teams from each of the four Elite Groups may be relegated to the Plate group for the following season.
All matches within the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, including both Elite and Plate rounds, will start at 9:30 AM IST on their respective match days.
