Dube played his last T20I against Afghanistan, where he impressed everyone with his all-round performance.
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India have announced the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in the USA and West Indies later this year in June. Rohit Sharma will lead the team and Hardik Pandya will be his deputy.
Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal made a comeback to the squad as all of these have missed the last edition of the ODI World Cup that was played in India in 2023.
Apart from these, Shivam Dube is also part of the Indian squad for the marquee event in USA and West Indies. This will be the first World Cup for the young all-rounder. Dube played his last T20I against Afghanistan, where he impressed everyone with his all-round performance. Fans and fellow cricketers even started comparing him with the cricketing legend Yuvraj Singh.
Dube revelaed how pep talk with Rohit Sharma helped him to perform well in his maiden T20I series earlier this year. Here is the video.
“When I came to Afghanistan series, Rohit Bhai had told me that I will bowl and bat. I just have to tell you what you can do. I was focusing on that because if the captain tells you that you will do this and you have to watch us, you express yourself. This was very important and I felt that I was playing so I didn’t think that I will play or not. I thought how I should perform so that my team gets the benefit and if I do well, the team wins” said Dube in a video shared by BCCI.
