Sanju Samson FINED 30 Per Cent Match Fees For Breaching IPL Code of Conduct During DC vs RR

Delhi: In what could be termed as unfortunate, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined 30 per cent of his match fees for showing displeasure over his dismissal in IPL 2024 game versus Delhi Capitals. Samson, who is otherwise a calm character, seemed to have lost his temper after he was controversially dismissed.

“Samson committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the BCCI’s statement read.

Samson scored a 46-ball 86 to get RR close. It was a knock that has brought the Royals in with a chance of a win in a 222-run chase. His knock was laced with six sixes and eight fours.

Following the 20-run loss, Samson reckoned the Royals conceded 10 runs extra and that did not help.

“I think we had it in our hands, it was like 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL. Yes, we are doing both the things fine, we will like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, if we had conceded a couple of less boundaries, we would have made it through,” Samson said at the post-match presentation.

“We have lost three games but all those games have been really tight, we have been playing remarkably well, we have to do some fine-tuning and make a comeback, we need to keep the momentum going,” he added.
