Sonakshi Sinha Won’t Convert to Islam Post Marriage with Zaheer Iqbal, Says Dabang Actress’ Father-in-Law
Zaheer Iqbal's father and Sonakshi Sinha's father-in-law said that the couple will neither have a Hindu or Muslim custom wedding.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are all set to take their relationship to the next level by tying the nuptial knot. The couple will reportedly get married on June 23, 2024. Ahead of the wedding, the groom-to-be’s father, Iqbal Ratansi, brushed off the rumours of the Dabang actress converting to Islam post-marriage. He also clarified the wedding customs, addressing whether the marriage will be held according to Hindu or Muslim traditions.
In a conversation with Free Press Journal, Iqbal Ratansi said, “It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage.” He added, “She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”
Recently, Shashi Ranjan, a close friend of the actress’ father Shatrughan Sinha, shared an update about the wedding. Speaking to ETimes, he said, “She (Sonakshi) is getting married to the man with whom she is in love. Everybody is participating, Shatru Ji’s brothers are also coming from America for the wedding. The registered marriage will take place at Zaheer Iqbal’s house. It is a very happy moment for me and the family.”
A few days ago, the veteran actor also confirmed that he will be attending his doting daughter’s wedding. He addressed the false reports claiming he would not be present at the ceremony. He said, “Tell me, whose life is it anyway? It’s just the life of my only daughter Sonakshi, whom I am very proud of and immensely fond of. She calls me the pillar of her strength. I will be there at the wedding, certainly. Why shouldn’t I, and why won’t I?”
He added, “The very fact that I have still been in Mumbai conveys that I am here not only as her pillar of strength but as her real kavach (armor) as well. Sonakshi and Zaheer have to live life together. They look very nice together.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer are rumoured to have been dating since 2020. The couple met on the sets of Double XL and fell head over heels in love with each other.
