THIS Shah Rukh Khan costar slams 'Orry culture' in Bollywood, says, 'Its a ticketed zoo'

Actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who garnered popularity for her portrayal of Aana in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, has slammed ‘Orry culture’ in Bollywood and expressed her views that it has transformed the zoo into a ‘ticketed zoo’.

She shared that the media focuses more on celebs’ lifestyles and clothes instead of their professional achievements. In a long note on X, she wrote, “2 years ago me and Kaveri were at a friends home in London. He is one of the wealthiest people in the world and an inspiration to many in the business world. Coming from humble small town beginings, he very honestly stated that when he was acquiring wealth in his earlier days , he was focussed on what brands he aspired to own ( he can now probably buy many outright) and as his earnings increased those are the 1st things he purchased for himself and his family. He then asked Kaveri what are her favourite brands. To which she honestly stated that her choices are dictated by her current aesthetic and taste rather than a trend or a fad or the price tag. He then asked me. And i said what i thought – an artist or an individual of calibre is a brand by themselves. Mastery and excellence in their field of work is the only brand an artist needs to aspire to. To flaunt other peoples labels that reek of a price tag, to do it because its a status symbol and its what the other rich do in my view reeks of insecurity and a lack of individuality. Cowardice. Why did i remember this today? Bec i got in touch with my ex personal trainer again- a lady who took loans to buy designer bags so she didnt feel inferior to her celebrity clientelle. Still on ur designer bag trip? I asked her.”

She added, No way she said. Because her son was now asking for photos with her celebrity clientele to post on social media. “What nonsense. I dont want him to get into this #orry culture – its dangerous. He has to do something on his own. He has to realize that just posting photos with celebrities dosent make him one” I gave her a hug and we decided to start my training tomorow. On the way back home i couldnt stop thinking of this whole vulgar culture of spend and eyeball grabbing. At any cost. And of how irresponsible our mainstram media has also become, that propogates this flamboyant extravagance circus( all paid ofcourse) where they chose to highlight the price of an isha ambanis or alia bhats dress rather than the achievements of an olympian or social worker or even a self made hard working entrepreneur. Its a ticketed zoo. The more the bling, the higher the footfalls. Merit be damned We need a social cultural and economic mindset reset. That can only be driven by media. A media that we are all an equal part of…that we are responsible for… Wish u all a fabulous 2024…”

Suchitra also featured in films like Kilukkampetti, Jazbaat, Vaade Iraade and others.
