This actor became a megastar in early 90s and has shared screen with the tons of the leading actresses. In spite of his brilliant success, his personal life became marked by heartbreak. We are talking about none except Sanjeev Kumar. He became Born in a Gujarati family as Harihar Jethalal Jariwala, but it became his screen name- Sanjeev Kumar- that gained him massive popularity in 70s. His career began in 1960 with the Indian People Theatre Association, playing senior citizens when he became just 22. This became his enthusiasm that he carried over to his film career.

His film debut came in 1960 with Hum Hindustani, but wasn’t until his role in Nishan (1965) that he started gaining wider recognition. The turning point in his career became Khilona in 1970, that made him reached to the stage of stardom. Well, In 1974, Sanjeev Kumar also gave an exceedingly superhit that became Sholay. The filmmakers approached Sanjeev Kumar to play Veeru opposite Hema Malini, but the 50-year-old played the role of Thakur as a substitute. Upon free up, it became a pair of of one of the most effective-grossing Indian film of all time, grossing Rs 30 crore worldwide. Sholay also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Amjad Khan.

Well, the Veteran actor only used to play older roles in his 20s and 30s because he had a belief that he wouldn’t live to be an old man. In an interview, actress and journalist Tabassum once said, “I asked him once, why are you so obsessed on older roles? He revealed to me, ‘Tabassum, a palm reader once predicted that I wouldn’t live long and I won’t see older age. The reason is,, I play older roles in films to live that life which I am now not fated to otherwise’.” The prediction sadly came true when Sanjeev Kumar passed away in 1985 on the age of Forty seven. He became stricken by a hereditary heart condition that took many lives of fellows in his family earlier than they reached 50.

Talking about his personal life, it became as dramatic as his films. One in your entire most interesting chapters became his love interest in Hema Malini. The actor became unaware that the dream girl became already dating Dharmendra, his co-megastar in Sholay. Unfortunately Hema Malini had to show down his proposal, leaving him heartbroken. After this rejection, Sanjeev Kumar chose to remain single for remainder of his life. He not often discussed about his unfulfilled love story in most people, and his decision to remain single always added a mystery surrounding his personal life.

Even after his untimely demise, Sanjeev Kumar’s legacy continued in the Indian cinema. He became known for his ability to portray a big selection of characters, whether they were deeply emotional or lighthearted with grace and authenticity. His last incomplete film, Professor Ki Padosan (1993) became changed to suit his unfished character, but couldn’t capture Sanjeev Kumar’s magic on-screen.
