Trader Joe's recalls popular food item due to potential contamination
The popular grocer also recalled several other packaged products last month.
Trader Joe's pulls in a strong number of customers with its frozen food section, but the grocer's loyalists need to be a little more wary after the grocery chain just recalled one of its major items.
The company announced on Saturday, Mar. 2 that it is recalling the "Trader Joe's Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings" with a best date of Mar. 7, 2025 and a lot code of C1-1 or C1-2.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), there are nearly 62,000 pounds of the product, which comes in 6 oz. boxes, that are being recalled.
The reason for the recall is that that there is a potential contamination by "foreign materials, specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker" in the dumplings packages, according to the FSIS.
FSIS said that Trader Joe's has been receiving customer complains about hard plastic, though both the FSIS and Trader Joe's said that there have been no confirmed reports of injury or illnesses yet from the soup dumplings.
The FSIS did warn consumers who purchased the product to throw them away or return them to Trader Joe's, and the grocery chain said it would grant a full refund for the product if returned.

Just last month, Trader Joe's recalled several other products due to potential contamination — including Chicken Enchiladas Verde and Cilantro Salad Dressing.
The products were recalled because they included cotija cheese — which the company said had the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that could cause several illnesses including sepsis and diarrhea, according to the National Institutes of Health.
