Virat Kohli BREAKS Silence After RCB Get Knocked Out of IPL 2024, Provides Reason For Loss vs RR

Bengaluru: In a video shared by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli reflects on the journey of IPL 2024 after crashing out of the playoff. RCB were eliminated by the Samson-led Rajasthan Royals side in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. In the first part of the season, RCB was lingering at the bottom half of the table with below-par performances, but six straight victories from the last week of April brought them to the playoffs.

“Our performance in the first half of the season was really under par for us. We were not living up to the standards that we have as cricketers. And then we just started expressing ourselves, started playing for our own self-respect, and then the confidence came back.” Kohli said.

‘Depiction of Character’

On May 18, RCB were required to beat the defending champion Chennai Super Kings by a margin of 18 runs, and there was a point when it looked as if Chennai were going through. Yash Dayal, whose minds were ghosted by Rinku Singh’s five sixes in 2023, came to bowl the over and defended just 17 runs.

In the first part, the team pretty much depended on Virat, but as the tournament progressed, players started to come together. Performances from Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Maxwell, Karthik, and others during crucial moments barred the team from crisis situations.

In the video, Kohli expressed a special feeling about how they turned the matches around. He said, “The way we turned things around and qualified was truly special. It is something that I will always cherish and remember because it took a lot of character and heart from each member of the team, something that we can really be proud of.”

‘Thank you to the fans’

Kohli also thanked the fans for their unwavering support and for turning out in heavy numbers not just in Chennai but in all the stadiums across the country where they played.

He said, “The support from fans is unwavering. This season was exactly the same; it wasn’t any different. I will always be thankful for that, and I will always be grateful for the way they turn out in numbers, not just in Bengaluru but all over the country where we play. Thank you so much for your support and wishes.
