Watch: BCCI shares 'BTS view' of India's thrilling double Super Over win over Afghanistan

With the T20I series already decided, the final fixture between India and Afghanistan was expected to be a dead rubber. Though, there was no sense of dullness during the third T20I played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Team India required two Super Overs to complete an emphatic T20I series series sweep against Afghanistan. The official social media handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now posted a video that perfectly captured the mood of the Indian dugout during the nail-biting final phase of the game. India all-rounder Washington Sundar astutely summarised the enticing third T20I by calling it an “unreal” one.

“This is my first such game and obviously it was unreal,” Sundar said in the video shared by the BCCI on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. “Double the drama. Double the nerves. All thanks to a Double Super-Over. A BTS view of the thriller from the M Chinnaswamy Stadium with Team India,” read the post shared by BCCI.

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, who scored a sublime century in the match, also revealed what it felt like to play two Super Overs in one game. “I have got experience of playing two Super Overs. We had it one during the IPL. These entire three games that we played, I thought we played our best cricket,” captain Rohit said following Team India’s series win over Afghanistan.

Rohit’s stupendous knock of unbeaten 121 guided the hosts to a mammoth total of 212 in the final T20I. Rinku Singh also contributed significantly by pulling off a blistering innings of 69 (not out) off 39 deliveries.

Afghanistan’s run chase got off to a flying start with both the opening batters—wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz and skipper Ibrahim Zadran—scoring half centuries each. The game had to be decided via a Super Over after Afghanistan finished their innings at 212.

Though, nothing could separate India and Afghanistan as the two Asian sides were level on 16 after the completion of the first Super Over. The hosts posted a total of 11 in the second one-over eliminator. Afghanistan’s run chase ended with Ravi Bishnoi picking up two wickets off three deliveries.

Rohit Sharma was adjudged player of the match for his spectacular batting. India all-rounder Shivam Dube was named player of the series.
