WATCH: Brian Lara, Carl Hooper break down as West Indies stun Australia at Gabba
Former West Indies captain Brian Lara and Carl Hooper got quite emotional as West Indies pulled off a stunning eight-run win over Australia on Sunday at the Gaba with Shamar Joseph taking seven wickets in the second innings. This is West Indies’ first win in Australia since they last registered a victory in Perth in 1997. The incredible win made Lara, a batting legend, very emotional while commentating on the result in the Fox Cricket box.
“This is unbelievable,” Lara said as tears rolled down his cheeks.
“Twenty-seven years to beat Australia. Young, inexperienced, written off – this West Indies team can stand tall today. West Indies cricket can stand tall.
“Today is a big day in West Indies cricket. Congratulations to every member of that cricket team. What a wonderful occasion.”
