The cricket fever has gripped the whole of India as Men in Blue get ready to take on Australia in the Cricket World Cup 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. While the duty to take India to their third ODI World Cup title rests on the shoulders of the players, enthusiastic fans are doing everything they can to bring the team good luck and pave their way to the world title.

Fans and cricket enthusiasts got together in different parts of the country to hold prayers and perform special ‘havan’ and ‘puja’ to wish Team India the best of luck.

A special puja was conducted at the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, while prayers were also offered at the Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram and Sabarimala temple in Kerala. A special ‘aarti’ was arranged at the Shree Siddhivinayak Mandir in Pune and prayers were organised at the ghats of river Ganga in Varanasi.

India have been the best team in the World Cup 2023 with 10 wins from 10 matches and look set to end their ICC title drought which has now continued for 10 years. Australia have won nine out of 10 matches and enter the final as the underdog. However, it will be a big risk to count them out as the Aussies have won five World Cups in the past and are known for being the toughest side to beat.

India captain Rohti Sharma on the eve of the final admitted that the match is going to be the biggest occasion for the team but they need to keep calm.

“This is a huge occasion without a doubt. Whatever we have dreamt so far is here. This is the most challenging aspect for professional sportsmen as to how you keep such challenges out of your minds and keep your focus,” he said.

“This is the biggest moment in our careers and it is important to stay calm and composed because that is where you can execute your plans better. You don’t get to play World Cup finals daily. I have grown up watching 50-over World Cups so for me it’ll be the biggest occasion.”
