YouTube Playables: Google’s Another Attempt on Gaming Makes Games Free For Users; Here’s How To Play
Games like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonder, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask and many more were available on the platform.
New Delhi: Google on Tuesday announced that all users can now play games on YouTube for free as it expanded its Playables feature. This is another step Google took to increase its engagement in the gaming industry by advancing Playables, a service launched last year in November for all the premium subscribers of YouTube.
The Google-owned video streaming platform first introduced Playables with 30 arcade games. Now, it is looking to diversify its gaming service by increasing the catalogue to over 75 games available to the free users as well.
“A collection of free games that you can play directly on the platform is being expanded to all users on multiple platforms. YouTube users can now access around 75 titles via the Playables section, which no longer requires an active YouTube Premium subscription,” YouTube announced in a blog post.
As of now, Playables is not available in India but it is expected that the feature will be available in the country once the general rollout commences.
How To Play Games On YouTube Playables
To enjoy YouTube Playables, you must visit the video-streaming platform’s homepage using a browser on any PC. Users must commence to “Explore Menu” to locate Playables there.
In the Playables section you will be able to choose from over 75 games. You can share the games with your friends as well by tapping on the three-dot menu.
To navigate through the games, you can either use the touchscreen of your smartphone or mouse/ trackpad on your PC.
What Kinds of Games Are Available on Playables
Playables mostly have arcade game catalogues including classics like Chess and Solitaire. It also has popular games that do not require significant graphic and processor advancement. Games like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonder, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask and many more are available on the platform.
Users with premium subscriptions will surely enjoy more benefits than free users. The premium subscribers will have the option to continue playing videos in the background while muting the game audio. They will also be able to save their progress in the game and compete for a high-scorer spot within the game.
