24 lakh diyas, 51 ghats: Uttar Pradesh aims to create new world record on 'Ayodhya Deepotsav'

Ayodhya is all set to hold a grand Deepotsav on the eve of Diwali on Saturday with arrangements being made to light over 24 lakh diyas at 51 ghats across the city.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Path will also be decorated with flowers and diyas as part of the celebration. Decked heavily with around 24 lakh earthen lamps, the UP government is also planning to create a Guinness World Record.

Around 48 tribal people from the Pakur district of Jharkhand have arrived in Ayodhya to celebrate Deepotsav on Saturday.

According to ANI, the diyas will be placed in different blocks with each block carrying 256 lamps, arranged into 16 rows and 16 columns.

The ‘Ayodhya Deepotsav’ will commence at 3 pm on Saturday. Last year, Uttar Pradesh bagged the Guinness World Record for lighting of 15.76 lakh diyas.
