Apple’s brand new product, Apple Vision Pro, is apparently not living up to the hype that surrounded its debut, and the company has allegedly been forced to cut its sales expectations.

Bloomberg chief correspondent Mark Gurman revealed in a newsletter that Apple is struggling to maintain consumer demand for Vision Pro as sales have declined.

“Demand for demos is way down. People who do book appointments often don't show up, and sales — at least at some locations — have gone from a couple of units a day to just a handful in a whole week,” said Gurman in the newsletter. “Apple also has had to step up the marketing on its online homepage. There's a huge promo for the Vision Pro at the top of the website — the most aggressive pitch since the device went on sale in early February.”

Apple has also reportedly decreased the amount of Vision Pro units it plans to sell this year from 700,000 to 800,000 units to now only 400,000 to 450,000 units, according to a new report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

When Apple Vision Pro was first announced last year in June, it had no trouble attracting high interest from consumers. Before the product was released in February, Apple reportedly sold over 200,000 headsets after it made it available for pre-orders on Jan. 19.

“The era of spatial computing has arrived,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a press release. “Apple Vision Pro is the most advanced consumer electronics device ever created.”

Gurman, who owns a Vision Pro of his own, also claims in his newsletter that the product is “cumbersome to use on a daily basis” due to the process of booting it up and navigating the interface. He states that it is easier for him to use his laptop or watch videos on a TV.

Many consumers who were quick to snatch a Vision Pro shortly after it was released were scrambling to find their receipts after they encountered a plethora of frustrating issues with the product. Some Vision Pro owners reported that the headset felt too heavy when worn and has caused issues such as eye strain, headaches and motion sickness.

The headset weighs 21.2 to 22.9 ounces (600 to 650 grams), which is equivalent to the weight of a basketball. The battery alone weighs 353 grams.
