Amazon quietly hosting free sales event (very soon)

One of the most highly anticipated events of the year for avid shoppers is Amazon's  (AMZN)  Prime Days.

The multi-day sales event, which typically runs twice a year — once in the summer and once in the fall — sees thousands of items go on sale for deeper than typical discounts.

Not only are the promotional days great excitement for shoppers, they're also great business for Amazon. Amazon's July iteration of Prime Days, which ran from July 11-12, 2023, brought in a record $12.7 billion in sales.

"The first day of Prime Day was the single largest sales day ever on Amazon," Amazon wrote when the event closed, adding "Prime Day 2023 was also the biggest Prime Day event ever for independent sellers, whose sales growth in Amazon’s store outpaced Amazon's retail business."

The retailer added that its October 2023 Prime Day event, which ran from October 10-11, "outpaced" the year prior's iteration of the event and saved customers a total of $1 billion.

It's a winning combination, and Amazon was primed to succeed. When you pair deals, especially on Amazon's devices, with fast shipping and free returns, there's very little downside to pressing that all too simple Buy Now with 1 Click button on your phone or browser.

But Amazon doesn't just hold two sales events per year. It recently held a Big Spring Sale in March, open to Prime members and non-members alike.

And avid readers, particularly on Amazon's popular Kindle e-reader device, are now looking forward to the upcoming Stuff Your Kindle Event 2024, which is reported to be taking place soon.

And BookTok, or the highly popular corner of TikTok that discusses books, is already anticipating this year's upcoming event.

While Amazon has not yet confirmed the official dates of the upcoming Stuff Your Kindle Event, past events have been held in March, June, September, and December. The event allows readers to go onto Amazon and see hundreds or thousands of free ($0.00) books available for purchase and download in their Kindle library. Users don't need a Kindle to get access to the books, they can also just download a Kindle reader app on their tablet or smartphone for free.

And while Amazon has not yet officially announced the upcoming dates for Stuff Your Kindle Day, other associated book websites have made their own announcement for interested readers to mark their calendars for upcoming dates.

The dates are:

  • April 23: Romance books
  • April 25: Cosy mystery books
  • April 27: Witchy books

It's expected that Amazon will add several other genres, though those dates are yet to be announced.

And currently, on Amazon's official Stuff Your Kindle Day website, over 9,000 books are already available for free download, including best seller romance novel Queen of Roses: A Dark Fae Fantasy Romance, which is book one of four in the Blood of a Fae series.

Customers don't need to have an Amazon Prime account or a Kindle Unlimited account to access the sale. Other devices and e-readers, such as  Kobo, Apple Books, and Google Play can still get access to the event. Users only need to have an Amazon account.
