Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have shared the screen in different films, equivalent to Mohabbatein and Khakee, long before she changed into his daughter-in-law after marrying Abhishek Bachchan. A especially unsettling incident occurred at some stage within the filming of Khakee, where Aishwarya was once injured in a serious accident. A stuntman, driving too fast, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the chair she was once sitting on. In an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan recalled how witnessing the accident deeply disturbed him, leaving him unable to sleep for 2 nights. He expressed his concern and frustration with how the media downplayed the seriousness of the incident, calling it trivial, for the duration of a conversation with Rediff.

“We were shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Khakee on the road outside Nashik. The stuntman drove too fast, at 60, 70 kilometres per hour, and skidded. All of us jumped out of the way wherein. But Aishwarya and Tusshar Kapoor couldn’t move fast enough. The automobile slammed into her chair. It was once terrifying.”

Big B spoke about the gravity of the placement and expressed his concern for Aishwarya’s well-being. He recalled the serious consequences of the accident and said, “I asked Aishwarya’s mother if she desired to take her daughter back to Mumbai. We organised Anil Ambani’s deepest plane. Since there will probably be no night landing facility in Nashik, we had to take permission from Delhi to land the plane at the military base which is Forty 5 minutes far off from the hospital. The seats needed to be removed from the aircraft. And individuals are brushing it off as a small incident blown out of proportion.”

“The automobile hit her and took her down a crevice and slammed into a cactus plant. Akshay Kumar pulled the car out and extricated her. We rushed her to hospital. We had to go through terrible crowd management problems. I've long past through this ‘VIP syndrome’ before. Thank God the hospital and doctor were firstclass. The commissioner of police in Nashik organised the whole lot”, he continued.

“For 2 nights I couldn’t sleep. To see this happen in front of my eyes! Her back was once lacerated with cactus thorns. The bone within the rear component to her feet is broken. She suffered severe cuts. And her injury was once reported as trivial.”

Khakee was once both a commercial and important success, standing out for its engaging storyline, strong performances, and gripping action sequences.
