Asian Games 2023: India keeping calm, sticking to plan led to women's cricket gold, says Titas Sadhu
The India women’s cricket team scripted history with their 19-run victory over Sri Lanka in the Asian Games women’s cricket gold medal match on Monday.
The Women in Blue not only snapped the trend of losing key clashes in major events in recent years, they also became only the second team in the history of the Asian Games to win gold in women’s cricket. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side achieved the feat in their maiden appearance at the continental event.
Titas Sadhu led the way with a superb spell of 4-1-6-3 that helped restrict the Sri Lankans to 97/8 after Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues helped India post 116/7.
According to the seamer, self belief and sticking to the plan were key in helping Team India emerge winners on Monday.
“We all had a clear plan of what we had to do. Obviously, we got a good momentum in the first over itself. We had discussed during the innings break that we will keep calm and stick to what we had decided,” said Sadhu.
“The way we came back into the match showed exactly that,” she added.
