The British manufacturer behind many famous sports cars like the DB-series and the Vanquish is getting into a new kind of high performance vehicle.

Called the .1R, the newest ride by Aston Martin AMGDF is not a sports car, but a road bike powered by the legs on your body. Developed in collaboration with British titanium road bike specialists J.Laverack, it calls the 1R is "the most bespoke, advanced and engineered bicycle to date."

Compared to the bikes you can pick up at your local Dick's Sporting Goods, the special .1R is the kind of bike that is virtually ready for the Tour de France, and is aimed towards the kind of dedicated cyclists who use Strava more than they use Instagram.

But what makes this bike different even to those ridden on the Tour is its aerodynamic, sports-car inspired design by Aston Martin. According to J.Laverack co-founder Oliver Laverack, each component fitted to the bike is meant to fit seamlessly, from the 3D-printed titanium legs to the sculpted carbon fiber tubes.

“Every component is designed to be part of the whole and to marry perfectly with the adjoining elements, achieving an unsurpassed degree of integration, which lays the foundation for the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R’s boltless design," said Laverack.

The bike also features unique components that aim at enhancing the riding experience, such as four-piston disc brake calipers, instead of the usual dual-pistons for greater brake feel. Additionally, the frame is made of a special type of titanium mixed with carbon fiber for the best in stiffness and responsiveness.

In true Aston Martin fashion, each bike has the opportunity to be customized for the rider. Buyers can choose different color options, or components on 13 different elements of the bicycle, with a range of 54 colors handpicked from those offered on Aston Martin's cars.

More Technology:

In addition, buyers who are lucky to secure any of the limited build slots will be treated to a unique experience with Aston Martin at their headquarters in Gaydon, Warwick, UK, where they will have measurements taken to fit the bike to the customer.

Pricing for the Aston Martin/J.Laverack .1R is upon request.
