Bengali Filmmaker Arindam Sil Suspended by Directors’ Body Over Sexual Harassment Allegation

Bengal’s well-known filmmaker Arindam Sil was once handed a suspension by the Directors’ Association of Eastern India (DAEI) following allegations of sexual misconduct made by an actress. Sil is a key personality within the Bengali movie scene, also also is known as Tollywood. The letter read, “Due to certain allegations made against you, and prima facie evidence we've got with us, that are of deep concern and is maligning to the entire organisation, DAEI has determined to suspend you from membership for indefinite period or till the allegations against you're cleared.” The letter was once sent by DAEI president Subrata Sen and Secretary Sudeshna Roy.

Sil, a familiar actor, clarified to the media that what looked like improper conduct was once unintentional.
