New Delhi: After successfully conducting the Lok Sabha elections in the country, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the dates for by-elections. The schedule for by-elections has been announced in order to fill the vacancies in 13 assembly seats in Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

As per the announcement by the ECI, voting will be conducted on July 10 and counting of votes will take place on July 13.

Here’s the complete schedule:

  • Notification Issue: June 14
  • Deadline of filing nomination: June 21
  • Scrutiny of nomination: June 24
  • Deadline of withdrawal of candidature: June 26
  • Date of voting: July 10
  • Results will be announced: July 13

Constituencies Which Would Undergo Bypolls:

  • Bihar: Rupauli seat, Bima Bharti’s resignation is pending.
  • West Bengal: Raiganj seat, resignation of Shri Krishna Kalyani is pending.
  • West Bengal: Ranaghat Dakshin seat due to Resignation of Dr. Mukut Mani Adhikari
  • West Bengal: Bagda seat is vacant due to the resignation of Biswajit Das.
  • West Bengal: Maniktala seat is vacant due to the death of Sadhan Pandey.
  • Tamil Nadu: Vikravandi seat is vacant due to the death of Thiru. N. Pugazhenthi.
  • Madhya Pradesh: Amarwara seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri Kamlesh Pratap Shah.
  • Uttarakhand: Badrinath seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri Rajendra Singh Bhandari.
  • Uttarakhand: Manglaur seat is vacant due to the death of Shri Sarwat Karim Ansari.
  • Punjab: Jalandhar West seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri Sheetal Angura.
  • Himachal Pradesh: Dehra seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri Hoshyar Singh.
  • Himachal Pradesh: Hamirpur seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri Ashish Sharma.
  • Himachal Pradesh: Nalagarh seat is vacant due to the resignation of Shri K.L. Thakur.

Notably, election commission of India is conducting the bypolls as vacancies created either due to deaths or resignation of incumbent members.

The ECI further announced that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will be imposed with immediate effect in the concerned district(s) in which the assembly constituency going for election is included.
