China slams US after warship enters its territorial waters without permission

On Saturday, the Chinese military announced that the USS Hopper, an American naval destroyer, had entered Chinese territorial waters without the Chinese government’s consent.

The Chinese military used its air force and naval forces to “track, monitor, and warn away” the vessel, according to a post on the Southern Theatre Command’s official WeChat page.

The incident, it continued, “proves that the United States is an out-and-out’security risk creator’ in the South China Sea.”

This most recent announcement comes days after China, referring to coordinated patrols between Philippine and American military since Tuesday, accused the Philippines of deploying “foreign forces” to patrol the South China Sea.

The U.S. side emphasised its worries about “dangerous and unlawful” Chinese actions there during “candid” talks on marine problems, particularly the disputed South China Sea, earlier this month, according to the U.S. State Department.
