Delta Has Bad News For Some Upcoming Passengers

A planned June launch has been scuttled.

Contrary to popular belief, not everything is bigger in Texas.

Delta Air Lines  (DAL) - Get Free Report has announced that it has scuttled plans to launch a route from New York La Guardia Airport to Dallas Love Field Airport. The connecting flight between the two major airports was expected to be launched in June.

Dallas is the ninth-most populous city in the U.S., but Delta stated that there was lower than expected demand for a new direct flight to LaGuardia. Delta may have also factored in increased competition from American Airlines  (AAL) - Get Free Report, which is the main carrier at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, and which offers more than 10 flights per day between Dallas and LaGuardia, in addition to other New York City-area airports such as JFK and Newark Airport.

Delta has indicated that the airline will continue to evaluate demand and ability to operate in the area, so another reversal could be on the horizon.

Delta To Offer Other Routes Instead

Since New York is off the table, Delta will add new services to Dallas Love Field from other airports, including a route from Los Angeles International Airport, as well as raising the total of flights to and from Atlanta-Hartsfield Jackson Int’l Airport to six.

Both of these services will launch on June 5, unless Delta changes its mind again.
