Elon Musk Sounds the Alarm About France

Elon Musk sees himself as a global CEO.

An innovator, whose mission is to watch over humanity and the civilization he wants to mark with his innovations and his vision for the future.

He, therefore, wants to transcend borders, considering that the issues which affect a major country or that can have repercussions for the planet concern him. He then uses his platform and his influence to shine the light on them, to capture the attention of the world and to raise the awareness of as many people as possible.

In recent months, he has drawn attention to the population decline in many countries like Italy, Japan, China, snd South Korea. To remedy this problem, which he believes threatens to lead to the extinction of Italy, for example, it is necessary to have children, he recommends. In doing so, he rejects the idea that the rising cost of living is one of the reasons preventing people from having children.

"Contrary to what many think, the richer someone is, the fewer kids they have," the serial entrepreneur argued in May 2022. "I am a rare exception. Most people I know have zero or one kid."

Musk has also become an advocate for farmers, who are anxious about environmental policies that increasingly threaten their profession.

"I’m super pro climate," Musk said on Mar. 6, as Belgian farmers were protesting the Flemish government's plan to reduce nitrogen emissions, and its threat to close the farms deemed to be the most polluting. "But we definitely don’t need to put farmers out of work to solve climate change. Not at all."

The voice of the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla  (TSLA) - Get Free Report has thus become a voice that resonates around the world. Heads of state listen to him and receive him as a star, rolling out the red carpet for him. Italy and France gave him a very warm welcome in mid-June, wooing him to invest there.

It is in this context that the billionaire has just sounded the alarm about France, where unprecedented violence has erupted, after the death of Nahel M., a 17-year-old teenager, killed by a police officer during a standard traffic check in the Paris suburbs.

'Sacrilege'

This urban violence has turned into real chaos with burnt cars and ransacked stores and public places.

These dramatic events, the images of which have appeared on the screens of television sets across the world, have challenged Musk, who, in his usual way, comes to draw the attention of the world to France, being moved by the fact that libraries have been ransacked.

"Burning down libraries is sacrilege," the billionaire said on Jun. 30.

It is not insignificant that the billionaire chose libraries, which are the symbol of collective memory, knowledge and storage. The library is a place where silence and order reign. The multitude of books in a library requires an elaborate but sufficiently clear classification, so that everyone can find the work sought.

Libraries are also associated with choice. You have to choose one book among so many, and this choice can sometimes be difficult. But this hesitation can be interpreted as a thirst for knowledge, a desire to learn everything.

This destruction is, therefore, symbolic, speaks to the greatest number of people, and is likely to alert the collective conscience.

The government of President Emmanuel Macron finally declared a state of emergency to restore republican order throughout the territory, as a fourth night of riots was expected on Jun. 30.

The state of emergency strengthens the powers of the authorities and makes it possible to restrict public freedoms without the intervention of the judiciary, which usually guarantees the application of the legal framework imposed by the state.

The police officer responsible for the shooting was charged and was placed in pre-trial detention, which provoked the anger of the police unions.
