Fresh Clashes In Bengal Amid Phase 3 Lok Sabha Elections

West Bengal Lok Aabha Elections 2024: A clash was reported in Jangipur, Murshidabad, on Tuesday, where TMC booth president Gautam Ghosh and BJP candidate Dhananjay Ghosh indulged in a fight at a polling booth amid the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Ghosh is a BJP contestant from Jangipur.

The TMC alleged of influencing voters in the Jangipur constituency. Gautam Ghosh had a heated argument with the BJP candidate during a conversation. The heated argument occurred at a booth number 44 at Mirgram Primary School.

‘Trinamool President Threatening Me’:

The BJP stated that he was at the booth while the TMC president started threatening him within a hundred meters of the booth.

“I came here as a candidate and I am witnessing a block Trinamool president threatening me within a hundred meters of the booth. If a candidate can be treated like this, what can happen to common people? We will complain about this to the Election Commission,” he said.

Meanwhile, TMC has also filed complaints against BJP candidate for allegedly intimating and assaulting their block president.

Four key Lok Sabha constituencies are set for a big day of voting: Maldaha Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Jangipur, and Murshidabad. The stage is set for an impressive 7,337,651 voters to express their democratic choice, which includes 3,612,395 women and 154 members of the third-gender community. They’ll be casting their votes across a vast network of 7,360 polling booths. One spot, in particular, the Murshidabad constituency, is gearing up for an exciting face-off, with heavyweights like Mohammed Salim of CPI (M), Abu Taher Khan of TMC, and Gouri Shankar Ghosh of BJP in the mix.
