Plenty of boxes ticked for Team India, who are without several key players, today. Not only did Mohammed Shami make it that much tougher for the team leadership to bench him during the World Cup with a five-wicket haul against the Aussies, the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav also nailed their auditions with sparkling half-centuries, the latter presenting a solid case for his inclusion in the middle order with the temperament that he displayed during a pressure-situation today.

India are 1-0 up at the moment, and will aim to clinch the series with a game to spare on Sunday before Rohit Sharma and the other seniors return to action for the series finale in Rajkot.
