"77 metres straight, square boundaries 59 metres and 69 square. It does fly here. The story is about altitude. 12 sixes per game, that's the average here. It's quite dry. A bit of grass on that, it's been very hot. There will be lots of runs on this, it looks pretty good. Expect a whole lot of runs and many sixes, " says Pommie Mbangwa at the pitch report.

The second T20I between the Proteas and the Men in Blue at St George’s Park had its fair share of explosive knocks, with bowlers from both teams getting smashed all over the park, although it was one miserly spell from a certain left-arm spinner that ultimately made the difference. Check out key takeaways from the second T20I.

India vs South Africa LIVE

India will expect a quick start from their openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal unless Ruturaj Gaikwad recovers from his illness to return to pole position something that has been central to India’s white ball template under head coach Rahul Dravid.

Both Gill and Jaiswal could not negate the extra bounce in the pitch in the last match while getting dismissed for a naught each.

However, Johannesburg is a venue where India have done well traditionally across all three formats and in T20Is they hold a 3-1 record in their favour.

Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the third and final T20I between South Africa and India at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Suryakumar Yadav-led India will be looking to clinch a seeries-levelling win on Thursday after having lost to the Proteas in a rain-affected second T20I.

Preview: Suryakumar Yadav-led India will look to clinch a series-levelling win when they take on South Africa in the third and final T20I in Johannesburg on Thursday. After the first match in Durban was washed out due to rain, the Proteas emerged winners in the second T20I in Gqeberha by five wickets in another rain-affected contest on Tuesday.

That win means the third T20I on Thursday provides the opportunity for the hosts to seal the series.

If there’s one thing that looks promising for India ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, it will be the rising stocks of Rinku Singh. Rinku, who finished games for India in the T20I series against Australia, was at his aggressive best with a 39-ball 68 in the second T20I. Apart from Rinku, Suryakumar Yadav (58) also showed promise but it will be paramount that the Men in Blue’s top-order gets going on Thursday.

India’s opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were both dismissed for ducks in the second game. Ruturaj Gaikwad missed that game with illness, and should he return for Thursday’s T20I, Shubman Gill could be the one who makes way.

The other change that India could make will be in the spin department, with Kuldeep Yadav likely to make way for Ravi Bishnoi. It, however, remains to be seen how effective the spinners will be on Thursday.

As far as South Africa’s team news is concerned, it’s worthy to note that Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee will be unavailable for this match in order to prepare for the upcoming Test series against India. As a result of the duo’s absence, Nandre Burger and Ottniel Baartman could make their respective debuts.

Teams:

India: Suryakumar Yadav (Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Deepak Chahar.

South Africa: Aiden Markram (captain), Ottniel Baartman, Matthew Breetzke, Nandre Burger, Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs, Lizaad Williams.
