A spokesman for Turkey's foreign ministry and health minister announced that more than 100 Gaza refugees, many of whom would seek medical care there, are expected to land in Turkey on Monday.

Palestinian death toll in Gaza surpasses 13,000

According to Gaza's official media agency, the Palestinian casualty toll in the Gaza Strip has surpassed 13,000 since the Israel-Hamas conflict commenced on October 7.

'Pure lie': Hamas dismisses Israel's claim of finding tunnel below Al-Shifa hospital

Hamas called Israel's announcement of the discovery of a tunnel beneath the Al-Shifa hospital a "pure lie."

Gaza's health ministry director, Mounir El Barsh, said Al Jazeera television that Israeli soldiers had been in the facility for eight days and "hadn't found anything."

The IDF film made no indication of what may be beyond the tunnel's blast-proof entrance. The location was reached via a shaft unearthed in a shed on the Al-Shifa complex.

On Monday, a top World Health Organisation official described the hospital situation in Gaza as “catastrophic,” adding that most are no longer operational and that what is left will likely be swamped by the hundreds of babies due in the coming month.

The UN briefing occurred only hours after a shell hit the second floor of a hospital in northern Gaza, killing 12, according to the Hamas-led Health Ministry and a medical worker. Both the government and the worker pointed the finger upon Israel, which denied bombarding the hospital.

Heavy violence erupted near the Indonesian Hospital, which has been housing thousands of patients and displaced persons for weeks.

The fighting came a day after the World Health Organization evacuated 31 premature babies from Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, the territory’s largest, where they were among more than 250 critically ill or wounded patients stranded there days after Israeli forces entered the compound.
