Jaishankar meets Italy's President Sergio Mattarella; discusses ways to advance strategic partnership
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella and other senior leaders in Rome to discuss ways to strengthen the partnership between both the countries in defence, cybersecurity, and counter-terrorism.
Jaishankar visited Italy at the invitation of his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani after concluding a four-day visit to Portugal.
During their meeting, President Mattarella expressed his strong support for improving ties between India and Italy and India-EU linkages, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a Saturday press release.
Jaishankar said, “Valued his (Mattarella) guidance for the further development of our strategic partnership. In a volatile and uncertain world, the India-Italy relationship is a factor of stability.”
