Karan Johar Pens Heartfelt Note for Father Yash Johar on 20th Death Anniversary: ‘My Biggest Fear Was…’

Yash Johar, an acclaimed filmmaker, departed from the world on June 26, 2004. The founder of Dharma Productions, Yash Johar was one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the Bollywood industry. Yash’s son, Karan Johar, who has now taken the Bollywood industry by storm, shared a heart-wrenching note on his father’s 20th death anniversary. The filmmaker penned an emotional note and shared a bunch of photos of his father. He also revealed that one of his biggest fears of losing a parent came true on June 26, 2004.

Sharing the note, KJo wrote, “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years… My biggest fear was losing a parent… On August 2nd, 2003, my father told me he had a malignant tumor… my worst nightmare was staring at me, and yet it was my duty as his child to stay positive and keep the faith… but the worst thing about instincts is that they never lie…”

He further added, “He left us 10 months after… We lost him… but we gained every inch of his mammoth goodwill… I was so proud to be the son of the most solid, soulful, and selfless man… he put his relationships above everything else… and has left a legacy of love that my mother and I still live by… I wish he knew our children… but I do know he’s watching over them and us all the time… Love you, Papa…”

The emotional note swept away a lot of people from the industry. Taking to the comment section, several actors, including Hrithik Roshan, Zoya Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Malaika Arora, and famous designer Manish Malhotra, paid their homage to the legendary director. The renowned filmmaker produced several movies, including Dostana, Duniya, Agneepath, Gumrah, Duplicate, and films Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kal Ho Naa Ho, among others.

Karan, in one of his interviews, recalled that four days after his father’s death, he received a letter which he referred to as his Bible. It consisted of detailed information about mutual funds, investments, bank accounts, and even whom to trust.

Karan recalled and said, “He came with a letter that my father had left behind for me. It was a business letter, it wasn’t an emotional letter. That letter actually said where the funds were in terms of your mutual funds, your investments. He even said these are people you trust, these are people you don’t trust. This is how you should take the business forward. It became kind of my Bible. So I took that Bible, like five to six pages of detailed things about bank accounts, where the money is, where property investments are.”
