Lakme Fashion Week 2023: 'Guapa' and 'Not So Serious' display colours, style, and fashion at the event

The ‘Guapa’ collection at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI was all about bold, funyet relaxed, serene fashion that would be ideal under glorious green palms. The collection was a fashionable ode to the contrast of the desert oasis, as earthy tones and vibrant hues came alive for the feminine, fluid, draped silhouettes, and tailored ensembles.

For the lady who wants to channel her inner Desert Queen emotions, sustainability will no doubt play a vital role. Guapa aimed at achieving this aspect with biodegradable fabrics and reduced waste by up- cycling, to present eye-catching, eco-conscious clothing.

Known for its holiday, resort, and swimwear lines, ‘Guapa’ label this season unveiled beach loungers that were created from regenerated ‘Econyl’ yarn, which was achieved from ocean and landfill waste that often pollutes the earth. This wonderous yarn also added to the chlorine resistant and SPF protection for the body. The other sustainable option for ‘Guapa’ was Cupro based fabrics that are biodegradable, hypoallergenic, durable, breathable, and quick drying. Cupro is created from cotton linter waste, which has been a great alterative to silk.

‘Guapa’ unleashed a versatile feast for the eyes, as its resort wear comprised dresses, co-ord sets, shirts, colourful kaftans, shorts, coverups and swimsuits in myriad colours, prints and embellishments to match every mood of the holiday maker.

Silhouettes and styling were kept utterly feminine to suit every occasion on the social diary. Whether it was sunning on the golden sands, a quick dip in the ocean, chatting at a high society Brunch soirée or going formal for dinner under the moonlight – the ‘Guapa’ collection was in tune and trendy with the times.

Designer Reby Jindal of Label Guapa shared, “It’s always a great feeling to be at the Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI. This time, it was an even better experience as we are completing 10 years of Guapa. Every single day for the last two months, we’ve worked for each piece that was showcased and what culminated at the end was only possible because of the hard work that happened behind the scenes.”

Men’s beach wear too got the ‘Guapa’ designer’s touch for the wildly printed resort shirts, shorts, lungis, tees, and robes. Adding more excitement to the peppy, perky collection were three chirpy influencers – Radhika Seth, Meghna Kaur and Malvika Sitlani dressed in a variety of swimwear, shorts, sexy fitted skirt, and bralettes.

‘Guapa’s’ fashion directions inspired by the desert oasis will be the look that holiday wardrobes would be filled with this season.
