New 'Super Mario Bros.' Movie Makes a Huge Mistake in the Closing Credits

Fans of the classic game were not impressed.

Nintendo made itself a household name thanks to a video game about a super-powered hopping plumber, and since the early 80s, the Super Mario Brothers has been a household name. A new family-friendly movie featuring Nintendo's beloved universe just released in theaters, and the reviews are still mixed.

Unfortunately, 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' failed to clear one very important level before opening in theaters -- the "credits" level. Composer Grant Kirkhope took to Twitter on April 4 to express his disappointment at being left out. Kirkhope is the composter responsible for the famous DK Rap, which was used in the film, but Kirkhope's name was missing from the queue.

Social media users who were first to see the movie were able to confirm Kirkhope's missing name, though the song itself does appear in the credits:

Fans of the composer's work, which is also well-known thanks to classic video game hits like "GoldenEye 007" and "Banjo-Kazooie", were quick to demand that the credits be updated post-haste. For some, the desire to right the wrong was too strong, and as the kids used to say back in Nintendo's heyday, "It was on like Donkey Kong".

Kirkhope's loyal fanbase is hoping to have the correction in order by the time the film is released to streaming and Blu-ray. But while Comcast Corporation  (CMCSA) - Get Free Report company NBC Universal missed out on Kirkhope's credit, fans of the video game were pleased to see the inclusion of another name that was instrumental to the success of the Mario Bros. universe -- the former President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata.
